Ambler, Eric

The Light of Day.  New York: Knopf, 1962.  First American Edition, very good dust jacket.  Slight shelf wear to book; dust jacket has small amount of chipping at top and base of spine and upper joints, small dimple (slightly breaking through) on spine of dust jacket, original price intact, dust jacket in protective mylar cover.  This title was the winner of The Edgar Award for 1964. The award, named in honor of Edgar Allan Poe, is given by The Mystery Writers of America to the best in mystery fiction and nonfiction produced the previous year.  This book was also made into a movie (Topkapi) in 1964, starring Melina Mercouri, Maximilian Schell, & Peter Ustinov.                                                       $15.00

Passage of Arms. New York: Knopf, 1960.  First American Edition, in two dust jackets, nice copy with the two different dust jackets (prices intact) - one very fine, the other is fine but for a small amount of rubbing at upper rear joint.  Each is protected in its own mylar cover.                                                                                                                   $35.00

The Case of the Lame Canary. NY: William Morrow & Co., 1937.  First Edition in very good dust jacket, book has bookplate of previous owner on front pastedown and a short inscription to the previous owner; end pages are darkened as are the edges of the pages (although to a lesser extent).  The dust jacket is price-clipped; in fact, all 4 corners of the jacket have had their corners clipped; there is rubbing to both joints and flap folds; there are 5-6 small (less than 1/2") closed tears along the various edges; there is a small chip at the lower rear joint (about 3/8" x 1/4") and a a tiny chip at the bottom of the front joint; The top joint has a chip (about 1/4" long x 1/8"); minor soiling, minor wrinkling along edges; dust jacket in protective mylar cover.                                                        $450.00

The Case of the Black-Eyed Blonde.  NY: William Morrow & Co., 1944.  First Edition in worn dust jacket with price intact, rubbing, wrinkling and chipping at edges and corners (1/2" chip from top of spine affecting last two letters of Erle), 1" x 1/2" chip from upper right corner of front panel, 3" closed tear on rear panel, surface peeling on a few spots of rear panel; dust jacket in protective mylar cover.                                                    $60.00

The Case of the Backward Mule.  NY: William Morrow & Co., 1946.  First Edition in near fine dust jacket with price intact, minor rubbing at edges and joints; small chip (<1/8") at upper joint, spine lettering has faded from red to yellow, dust jacket in protective mylar cover.                                                                                                                   $50.00
